Kasteel Cannenburch

De Cannenburch has been the main eye catcher in Vaassen for more than four centuries. Commissioned by the famous general Maarten van Rossem (1490-1555), the house was built on the remains of mediaeval ruins in the 16th century. A bronze version of the knight in armour is still standing guard on a bench beside the entrance bridge. When you step into the rooms of the old nobleman's house, you can't help  feeling the old lord of the manor might come in any moment to greet you himself. That's how true to life the castle's interior is. The collection of furniture, china and paintings give away a feeling of hominess and affluence the former occupants used to enjoy. The woods and the park surrounding the castle are open all year and free of charge.
